Canadian manufacturer Derco has developed a very successful range of shopping trolleys designed for the specific needs of nurseries and garden centres. These trolleys are now available in the UK and Ireland from Green Magic Co. Pre-season orders for Spring 2008 are being taken now.
Larger trolley equals more sales - that's a fact! 
The long wheel-base models are especially popular. The one pictured (model 35230) has a half-length upper shelf which will Flip and Slide out of the way when more tall shrubs are to be loaded.
Long wheel-base models are 35" (890mm) long by 26" (670mm) wide (see brochure for exact dimensions of each model).
Like every Derco trolley it comes with a safe child seat which doubles as a basket for smaller items.
Amazingly durable finish
Every Derco trolley has a 2-stage finish for extra durability and rust prevention. First the whole trolley is zinc plated - then it is coated in a clear weather-resistant lacquer.
Wheel advantage 
Wheels are an important consideration if the terrain is rough. Standard supermarket trollies are not suitable for uneven ground or even for large areas of block paving. Small hard wheels will lead to excessive vibration - not good for your customers or their pots!
All long wheel-base Derco trollies come with 8in wheels as standard - pneumatic wheels are an option for sites with gravel covered paths.
Even the massive stock shifter pictured right will glide your customer's purchases to the till. This model has a full length upper shelf on a long wheel-base chassis. The overall size is 890mm long x 670mm wide (model 35235).
Many valuable design features
Each shelf has an optimum size lip - tall enough to stop objects rolling off, but shallow enough to allow bags to overhang. The load capacity is tremendous - as it needs to be when you consider how much heavy stock you can stack on the trolley. The front of the upper shelf even incorporates a pair of handy suspension points to take hanging baskets.

The new 3-tier shopping trolley from Derco was launched at Glee 2007 to considerable acclaim. Both upper shelves tilt and slide so you can carry tall shrubs as well. The model shown is 36265 based on the long wheel-base chassis.
Standard size garden centre trolley - but with all the Derco benefits
Standard wheel-base models are perfect if you don't want quite such a large capacity.
The standard length trolleys pictured below are 31" (790mm) long by 23" (590mm) wide.
Model 35222
The main image shows model 35221 which has 5" (125mm diam) hard wheels. The inset shot shows the more usual version model 35222 used in garden centres with 6" (150mm diam) rubber wheels. For really uneven or rough surfaces 8" wheels are available in either solid rubber or pneumatic versions to special order.
Sloping site? A trolley with brakes!
If you have a hilly site watch the video and you'll soon see the benefits of a shopping trolley equipped with brakes. We call this the Stop 'n Shop trolley. The model pictured (model 35245) has a long wheel-base frame with a full length upper shelf for a massive loading capacity.
Like all the above trolleys they are easy to manoeuvre even down narrow aisles, and will roll effortlessly over block paving and other typical garden centre floor surfaces, both indoors and outside.
